June 5: Valencia's "Cuidad Las Artes Y La Ciencia" (City of Arts and Sciences)
We travelled the hour away to go and see Valencia, and were absolutely amazed with what greeted us there! The science and arts museums were HUMONGOUS! They had museums for the sciences, oceanography, the arts, an IMAX cinema, a planetarium, and so much more. The compound was huge. Right next to the museum complex was the tail end of a strip of park that would rival Central Park in New York City.
As we were walking around, I was astounded by two things; how big the buildings were and how small I am in comparison. The absolute creative nature of these massive buildings is worth it to see. All three of us felt it, and so we spent most of the time in silence. Wow!
Psalm 46 is a psalm that has the same wonder to it. When I read it I feel the same way I did today in the midst of the beautiful museums.
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge.
Days like today, when I experience something so much bigger than myself, I am thankful that nothing is bigger than my God. My troubles are but a speck before him, but he cares for me so much that he even knows how many hairs are on my head...at ALL times! That's a God I can serve with all that I am.
What about you? How big is God to you?
Here's just one more picture. It is of me...in front of a huge growth of my favorite colored flowers! A lovely bouquet of flowers for me today, to remind me how much God loves me. Today was a really special day!
