June 3: Driving to Denia
We woke up refreshed, after sleeping for about 10 hours. Now I felt much more like myself and definitely ready for adventure! Jeremiah said it best, "Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Amen! Every day we wake up to a new day of fresh mercies....fresh possibilities! Today was not an exception. We were able to go to see the Real Madrid soccer (futbol) stadium. It was packed in the stadium store, because tonight Real Madrid plays in Wales for the league championship. They open the stadium for people to come watch the game in the stadium on TV. It was already filling up when we were there, about 8 hours before the game starts! Wow!
You know, I really appreciate the support and excitement the Spaniards show for their teams. It was refreshing to see the families (very common to see 4 generations together) getting ready for the big game. Being here with two of my children is really fun, and I can see how much fun it will be when there are grandchildren one day.
We arrived in Denia about 6;00pm. It is located on the Spanish Riviera and is beautiful! The drive was really interesting too. We drove through semi-desert area, vast farmlands, and wheat fields before approaching the riviera and coming into acres and acres of olive groves and almond trees.
Above is pictured the first castle we have seen. It is El Castillo de Garcimunoz. The outside was HUGE and really old. The inside..? Well, it was closed, so we didn't get inside, but it wetted our appetite to see more castles.
We arrived in Denia, checked into our condo, went for groceries, and then relaxed for the evening. Tomorrow....we begin to explore our section of the Spanish Riviera! Today, I leave you with a question that I also ask myself....... Where do you run for safety? Is the Lord a strong tower for you?
For me...I am thankful for God's protection. He IS my strong tower. He HAS protected me from enemy attacks, from natural disasters and from many, many storms. His desire is to see me flourish, live life to the full, and to BE a believer with our actions first, and words second.
Have a great day!
